Tuli Conservation Trust (TCT) has donated the funds to build a roofed assembly point shelter for Mathathane Primary School. During the handover ceremony, TCT Manager Mr Reuben Kokole congratulated the school for achieving such a magnificent project with the assistance on TCT. He commended the school on their efforts in raising funds for the paving of the shelter through the Parents and Teachers Association, highlighting that this demonstrates the spirit of togetherness among the various school stakeholders. Mr Kokole also acknowledged the effective collaboration between TCT, the school and the Bobirwa District Council during the grant application process.
In her remarks, school head Ms Molly Otukile expressed her appreciation for the donation and assured participants that the school would take good care of the shelter through regular maintenance. "You have given us more than just a roof; you have provided a multipurpose learning facility. This project stands as a testament to your commitment to education and the well-being of our learners," said Ms Otukile.
Acting Chief Education Officer Ms Thandie Sethatho-Job reiterated the Ministry's appreciation for the work done by TCT in schools across the region. She referenced the recently donated library reading cubicles to Badale Secondary School, also located in Mathathane. Ms Sethatho-Job added that the new shelter would enhance daily operations at the school, serving as a meeting area for various events and gatherings. She further noted that the shelter could be utilized as additional teaching space especially as the school continues to grow.
Bobirwa District Deputy Council Secretary Ms Mpho Bogatsu also thanked TCT for its generous contribution to the educational development of schools in the Bobirwa District. She encouraged the school management and students to take care of the shelter to ensure a conducive learning environment for all beneficiaries.
The project was completed at approximately P67,000, with TCT contributing nearly P47,000 towards its completion.
