On 3 July 2024, Gobojango Primary School hosted a ceremony to officially open their new assembly point shelter. While constructing the shelter, the school concluded that the shelter would be more efficient with a paved surface which was not covered in the initial funding provided by a third-party donor. As a result, they promptly approached TCT to secure funding for the construction of concrete paving under the shelter. This enhancement would enable the shelter to host various school events, such as assemblies, prize-giving day celebrations and other important gatherings, in all-weathers given the school's lack of a multi-purpose hall.
Reflecting on the official opening event, Mrs. Sebudubudu, the School Headteacher, expressed profound appreciation to TCT for generously funding the shelter's paving. She emphasized that the shelter, in its original unpaved state, would be unsuitable for hosting such activities, being prone to dust during dry seasons and mud during wet seasons. She added that their goal would not have been attainable without the unwavering support from stakeholders such as TCT. The paving project encompassed the construction of a sturdy brick-built podium specifically designed for future events hosted within the shelter. Various stakeholders, including authorities from the Bobirwa District Council, the Subregional Education Office, and school heads and teachers from the various schools of the Bobirwa District graced the event. On the same day, the school celebrated the exceptional performance of its students in the 2023 Primary School Leaving examinations during the event.
TCT generously sponsored the shelter's paving at a cost of BWP 28,975.20 and our Community Liaison Officer, Reuben Kokole, was pleased to represent TCT at the Victory Party celebrations. The shelter can accommodate between 300 and 350 people.
