Tuli Conservation Trust (TCT) and Mashatu Nature Reserve collaborated to provide a practical learning experience for students enrolled in the Tourism and Hospitality course at Matshekge Senior Secondary School in Bobonong. The school had requested assistance from TCT to identify local tour guides who could give presentations and offer hands-on experiences to help the students successfully complete their program. In response, TCT reached out to Mashatu Nature Reserve, which responded positively and promptly.
The activity began with a classroom presentation where students were introduced to the fundamental principles of tour guiding. They also learned about the importance and benefits of community participation in the protection of the natural environment. Later, they participated in a field exercise where they engaged in a practical tour guiding experience along the banks of the Motloutse River which is fairly rich in natural resources.
TCT extends special thanks to Mashatu Nature Reserve for honouring the request and providing one of its renowned tour guides, Mr. Kenosi Rammona who excelled during both the classroom and field activities. The Senior Teacher in the Home Economics Department, Ms Tapiwa Ranama also expressed profound gratitude to TCT and Mashatu for their positive response to the school’s request. She emphasized that this gesture would greatly contribute to shaping future leaders in tourism and hospitality and expressed hopes for continued partnership in the future.
