Our article for this month features Mr. Mogomotsi Ramofi affectionately known as Goms, a long-term volunteer with TCT. Goms began his volunteer journey with TCT in 2023 when he participated in a vision testing activity at Motlhabaneng Primary School. He says he learned about the Tuli Conservation Trust through his interest in conservation and eco-science. He added that, as he trains to be a professional safari guide, he frequently researches conservation initiatives in Botswana. He noted that the Tuli Conservation Trust stands out for its significant efforts in protecting wildlife and ecosystems in the Bobirwa area.

According to Goms, his passion for volunteerism is fuelled by his dedication to conservation especially as an aspiring safari guide. He expressed his appreciation for TCT's approach of prioritizing and promoting conservation awareness and sustainable practices amongst its target communities which are crucial for long-term wildlife protection and biodiversity conservation.

Goms shared that the most significant lesson he learned through his volunteering experience with TCT is the importance of balancing conservation efforts with community engagement. "I have seen first-hand that successful conservation is not just about protecting wildlife but also about collaborating with local communities to create sustainable solutions," says Goms. He emphasized that this experience reinforced his passion for guiding and conservation out of the realization that every role within an ecosystem contributes to preserving our natural environment.

‘‘I would like to thank Tuli Conservation Trust for its dedication to wildlife conservation and for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow in the field. Their efforts in protecting the ecosystem, engaging local communities and promoting sustainable conservation have been truly inspiring. I appreciate the knowledge and hands-on experience I gained which has strengthened my passion for guiding and conservation’’, Mr. Ramofi concluded.
