DWNP Solar Equipment Donation

On December 4, 2025, the Tuli Conservation Trust made a significant contribution to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks by handing over solar system equipment valued at approximately P70,000 to the Bobirwa District office. This initiative is set to enhance the operational efficiency of the DWNP while promoting sustainable energy solutions.

During the handover ceremony, TCT's Community Liaison Officer Mr. Reuben Kokole emphasized the Trust's commitment to building strong partnerships and making impactful investments within targeted communities. He expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit among various stakeholders in the area and thanked the Mashatu Game Reserve Management for providing accommodation for DWNP officials involved in the project.

Receiving the equipment, Regional Wildlife Officer Ms. Mercy Munyadzwe articulated the timely nature of this donation during a challenging economic period for the country. She highlighted that the new solar system would not only improve the welfare of the officials at the camp but also enhance the efficiency of data collection through the use of technological equipment powered by solar energy. In her remarks, Ms. Munyadzwe stressed the global shift towards nature-based solutions noting that this project exemplifies the direction needed especially since the previous use of diesel generators had adverse environmental impacts. She concluded her address by urging officials to take care of the equipment to maximise its benefits.

In closing, Chief Wildlife Warden for Bobirwa, Mr. Nkau, expressed gratitude to the Tuli Conservation Trust for their partnership with the DWNP and other local stakeholders. He urged all officials using the equipment to uphold the highest standards of discipline in maintaining the solar system to ensure they continue to function effectively for years to come.
